Tesco Stock Bedfordshire Super Naga - UK's Hottest Chilli Pepper
Tesco has started to stock "the UK’s hottest commercially grown chilli pepper", the Bedfordshire Super Naga. The pepper has been produced by Bedfordshire farmer Salvatore Genovese. The Super Naga (90p for a 15gm packet) has a rating of around 1.12 million Scoville units, topping the Bhut Jolokia, which tips the scale with a reading of just over one million Scovilles.
Tesco said “Chilli fans will love the Bedfordshire Super Naga as it has a wonderful fruity flavour to match its searing heat level. The heat builds slowly allowing you to savour the full flavour. It’s very deceptive because it takes a good 30 seconds for the heat to really start working and then it continues to build for a few minutes. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted and should be tasted with extreme caution.”
How long before someone tries to sue Tesco because "the chilli was too hot". Seems likely! When it comes down to Scoville Units, every little helps!
