Visit Ryton Gardens on Saturday 17th August 10.00am-4.00pm, for Chilli Day and the Exotic Crop Fair.
Learn all about growing and cooking exotic plants and vegetables, including super-hot chillies. There will be a range of stalls filled with fresh chillies, exotic plants and seeds, sauces and food to browse, taste and buy. Plus there will be demonstrations on growing and cooking exotic vegetables.
Take the Chilli Challenge! The braver visitors can take part in the chilli challenge! How far dare you venture up the Scoville Scale of chillis? Start at a mild "Doux Long Des Handes", an "Aji Panca" and finish at the Red Trinidad Scorpion – the world’s hottest chilli!
Visitors can also create and cook their own organic pizza, discover how to make their own garam masala, learn how to save seeds, pot up plants and taking cuttings from lemongrass.
